Christmas Update!

Family self-portrait.

I never seem to have enough hours in the day! Between Mackenzie and my family being here time on the computer is quite rare for me, so forgive me for taking so long with an up-date!
We had a good Christmas. We all got some great gifts and had a nice day relaxing. Dakota was with us till Christmas morning so it was great to see her. Out of all the gifts she received she was most impressed by the Twilight shirt my Mum bought her.
She enjoyed spending time with her little sister, although she started to worry a little when every time she held Mackenzie she would cry. We all told her not to take that personally as Mackenzie has days when she just wants her Mum and Dad!
Mackenzie looked so cute in her Christmas dress, although I think she might have wondered what the fuss was all about! We kept her in it until everyone got their photos, although I realised once she was out of it that me and her did not get a photo together. In fact I realised today that we haven't had any photos just me and her since she was born! I guess I'm going to have to work on that!
Tomorrow she will be four weeks already, and I can't believe how fast the time has gone. She is doing great and growing by the day. We have been having a little trouble getting her to sleep at night, but last night we had a big break through. We are now working on a bed time routine. We give her a bath (using lavender products) which she really enjoys, then she goes into her pjs, has a drink then goes to sleep. Last night was the first time she slept in her own bed. She did that all night until her 5am feed where I fell asleep before putting her back to bed. I guess I'll only have myself to blame when she's still sleeping in our bed!
My Aunty Coral made her the cutest little teddy bear which my Mum bought over with her. He's a little brown bear dressed up in a purple rabbit suit. I have decided to name him Henry after seeing a picture of my cousin's son Henry sleeping with his bear! (He has the same bear as Mackenzie, but his is in a red rabbit suit) Henry and Mackenzie were born about a week apart, so I thought this would be a cute way of keeping them connected even though they are on the other side of the world from one another! (I hope you don't mind Amanda!!) Mackenzie loves her Henry bear and I've included some pics of her hanging out with him.
As for John and I we are doing fine. John got his leave extended and will be with us until January 12th. We are very excited about that! It's been great having him here, and I'm sure he's loving the opportunity to bond with his little girl. He is so cute with her, and I especially appreciate him taking her in the mornings for their little Daddy - daughter time. This week I finally got out and bought myself some new clothes. Since giving birth I have had one pair of jeans that fit me and a lot of over sized pj pants to wear. I've lost I'm thinking about 30 pounds thanks to the gestational diabetes! I still want to lose some more so yesterday I took advantage of the sales and got myself some new clothes. You can't believe how happy I was to see that I now fit into size 16 jeans!!
New Years will probably be an early one for us. Belynda is heading out with some friends of hers, but the rest of us are staying home. I will possibly be awake feeding at midnight, but if I'm lucky I might actually be fast asleep! Whatever your plans I hope you have a happy, safe and fun new year and that 2009 sees nothing but good things come your way!! I'll be in touch again next year!!

Daddy's Home!

Mackenzie and her Daddy!!

Where does the time go!?! Sorry it's taken me a while to update the blog, but as you can imagine time seems to get away from me these days! John finally got home last Saturday and it's so good to have him home. Mackenzie just loves her Daddy, and already has John wrapped around her little finger! He has this way of calming her down at times that I'm really going to miss once he leaves us again! He has been such a great help too, especially around the 4am time period. After she eats they go and have sometime together, which has allowed me to sleep a little more. I have truly come to appreciate that two and bit hours of sleep!

Mackenzie's first bath!

With Mackenzie's umbilical cord finally falling out she also had her first bath this week. She did a lot better than what I thought she would as the sponge baths I used to give her she did not like at all! This is one of my favourite photos of her!! Isn't she the cutest!!

We have been doing a lot of hanging out at home and getting ready for Christmas. My Mum and Belynda arrived on Wednesday so we've been out doing some shopping and stuff since they have been here. Mackenzie had her two week appointment on Wednesday and now weighs 8 pounds 3 ounces. I can tell that she's getting bigger, maybe soon she'll start fitting into more of her clothes.

Mackenzie in one of her Christmas outfits!

In her bouncer..."Thank you Aunty Jess, it's one of my favourite places to hang out!!"

One week old!
So I can't think of anything else to update you on! We are all doing great and just making the most of the time John has with us! At the moment he is due to head back December 30, but he's going to see about extending for another week so please everyone keep your fingers crossed that he is able to do that! Mackenzie and I wish that he didn't have to go back at all!
In case I don't get back on the computer before Christmas I hope you all have a wonderful day whatever you do!! We will have Dakota over for Christmas Eve and morning so I'll be sure to have plenty of pics to put on here! I can't wait for you all to see Mackenzie in her Christmas dress!!

Mackenzie's Early Arrival!!

Well this week has definitely been a week of ups and downs!! The high light of course was the surprisingly early arrival of our daughter Mackenzie. She arrived December 3, 10:42pm, weighing in at 7 pounds 9 ounces (they rounded the ounces up) and 19.5 inches long!
I think Tuesday's events may have triggered Mackenzie's early arrival. I got my usual phone call from John checking up on me. Unfortunately he had bad news for me telling me that he wouldn't be back in Bahrain in time to catch his flight. This was the news I had been dreading from the time he told me that he had to go back out to sea. As you can imagine I didn't take the news to good and after getting his flights changed I was a mess for the rest of the day. I had my hospital tour that night so I got myself together and went there, which was probably a good thing because I didn't realise that I'd be needing it the next day!! As for the inducement I hadn't even gotten around to asking if I could change the date, so I guess maybe I had accepted that John wouldn't be here.
So Tuesday night I barely slept. I wasn't in any pain or anything like that I just couldn't sleep. I had to get up early the next morning for an appointment so when I got out of bed I began to leak some liquid (to put it politely). I noticed that it was pinkish and I guess I realised what was happening, so I calmly got my bags packed, got everything into the car, got myself dressed, had breakfast, then drove to the hospital. I went to my appointment and was told to go home and monitor my liquid loss and come back if it became a lot. I wasn't too happy with that and when I got up I felt more liquid, so I told the nurse and she told me just to go to labor and delivery just to be on the safe side. I went there and was put in a room to wait for a doctor. When the doctor came I explained the situation and she said she'd check me out and see what she thought. She tells me to sit up a little and scoot forward and when I did that I lost quite a bit of fluid and she tells me that I'm staying as the baby is coming.
The rest of the day went by rather quietly. My contractions came on, but it took me forever to dilate completely. My friend Brittny arrived in the early evening and we just hung out until around 10:30 when they came in to check me and told me I was ready to go. I had been in an epidural enhanced spell and once they told me that the nerves started to kick in!! I started to feel sick and they let me throw up then I started pushing. I threw up again, then before I knew it Mackenzie was up on my chest! The epidural was the best thing ever because I really didn't feel much at all!
I still can't believe she's here! She's so perfect and we have both settled in at home reasonably well. She's a bit of a night owl which at times is tough, especially when I just want to go to sleep! I'm actually a little amazed how well I've adapted, especially doing it on my own. I have this level of patience and calm that has taken over me and so far I think I'm handling doing it on my own quite well! I'm not going to lie though, I am so looking forward to John coming home to help out! He should be here on Wednesday, but I won't rest easy about that until I see him!! I don't get much time to do anything...at the moment I typing one handed because she'll only sleep if I hold her. I do have some photos that were taken at the hospital that you can all see on a website, but I'll have to give you that when I'm a little more organized!!

Welcome to the world!!

Thanksgiving

On Thursday it was Thanksgiving and I was invited over to my friend Brittny's house to spend the day. It was nice to get out and meet some new people rather than sit at home by myself for the day. We had a great meal. Brittny's husband made turkey which was really yummy!! There was also stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and cranberry sauce. It is a little different to what I'm used to coming from Australia, but it was good just the same! I was a good girl and left before dessert too, so my sugar levels were ok for the day.
I've had a quiet weekend. I'm slowly working through getting the house ready and just taking things easy. I've been getting very tired these days and I make sure I take the time to have a nap when I'm feeling like that. Maybe it's my body allowing me to get all the sleep I can before the baby arrives!! Today she has started to dig into my ribs which at times has been quite painful, so I guess she is running out of room! I'm beginning to feel uncomfortable for long periods of time, so I guess next Monday can't come soon enough for me.
John is doing fine and still at sea. He has been calling me almost daily on the satellite phone which has been really reassuring for me. Now that she's so close to arriving it's starting to get tough knowing that he's not here. I can't wait for him to come home!! I have had the time to adjust to the idea of the inducement and in a way I'm looking a little forward to it. It will allow John to spend all the time he can with her before he has to go back. I will definitely admit that I'm very nervous, if not scared of labor, but the uncomfortable feeling I have now is getting a little old!
This week I have nothing planned apart from appointments. I really want to go see Australia, so I'm going to find the time for that!! On Tuesday I have my tour of the labor wards and that area, so I don't go in there totally not knowing what's going on. Wednesday is my fetal assessment appointment where they check on the baby's movement and see if I'm contracting or anything like that. Then on Thursday it's my regular appointment with my usual doctor so as you can imagine I'll have a million questions for him! I still feel fine driving and all that, but my plan is not to go too far from home in this last week. I think it will all be about taking things easy this week. If anything changes I'll update you all on the blog!

Baby Update!

Me at 37 weeks and 4 days...getting ready to see the New Kids on the Block!!

So Yesterday was my regular doctors appointment and I had to go see a doctor I've never seen before as my regular doctor was out for the Thanksgiving holiday. It all started out with my getting really frustrated because I was kept waiting for over an hour! I finally got into the exam room and it's just like every other appointment I go to. He looked at my sugar levels, listened to the baby and measured my tummy. As we are talking he asks me where I come from. When I tell him I'm from Darwin he tells me that his daughter was on the USS Mercy and his wife met her in Darwin. At the end of the appointment he tells me to come into his office to look at some photos. I go in there and look at the photos of their time in Darwin, then the doctor drops my bomb shell. He asks me when is my induction date? I tell him that I don't have one and he says that I need one because with my diabetes they don't normally allow mothers to go full term. He looks up his little date thing and tells me December 5. I tell him that John won't be home until the 8th and his reply is, "Well he'll come home to a new baby." As you can imagine I'm starting to freak out a little because the last thing I want to do is go through child birth on my own!! I tell him that I really want my husband there, so he relents a little and tells me that I'll be induced on the 8th of December!! Poor John will arrive about 10:30 in the morning and we need to be at the hospital by 3:30 in the afternoon. I've told him that he needs to get all the sleep he can on the plane! So there is my news; I'll be induced December 8th. Our baby will be here either that day or the next!
I'm still kind of processing it all. Of course I need to verify with my regular doctor if this is what's going to happen, so I'll let you all know for sure next week. I knew that she was coming, but to have an actual date was a little over whelming! With time to sleep on it and John knowing about it I'm beginning to feel better about it. For me, just knowing that John will be there is what is keeping me together. It will also be nice for John and I to have that time together with the baby before the family gets here.
So last night the baby got to go to her first concert! I survived going to see the New Kids on the Block and it was fantastic!! I got to relieve my youth a little along with all those other middle age women! The baby didn't mind the music, but all that screaming she did not like! She gave me a bit of a hard time after a while, because as you can imagine all those women didn't stop screaming at all! Anyway they sang all my favorite songs and I had the best time!!! I can safely say that I'm still a huge New Kid fan!!

My Last Week of Work!

I made it! Friday was my last day of week and I am very relieved to be done with it. After the stomach bug I started to get a head cold so I think in the end it was probably the best time to leave. I think I need to be away from all those germs you can find in a child care center for the remainder of my pregnancy. I can't believe she's almost here!!
My final week went quickly. I got to go home early for some days which was great. On Thursday the girls had a surprise pot luck for me so that was nice. Friday, my last day was a long day. All the babies were a little demanding for my final day, so I was glad to call it a day in the end. Saying goodbye to my friends was fine. I told myself and them that I would be seeing them soon, so it wasn't like it was a final goodbye. I'm actually going to be seeing some of them tomorrow, so I haven't even gone a week without seeing them!
So now that I'm not working I'm taking things easy. I'm getting the house organised slowly, and making sure I get plenty of sleep! I believe the baby's room is ready. I'm sure there is something I've forgotten, but I guess I'll find out when I need it! We are having some really nice weather at the moment which is also making me feel a lot more comfortable. I'm hoping that it remains like that for the remainder of my pregnancy.
This week is still a busy week for me even though I'm no longer working. I have three doctors appointments; my regular appointment, my visit to the fetal assessment unit and an ultra sound. I have one appointment tomorrow and the other two are on Wednesday. Everything is still going great. My sugar levels are doing well and the baby is still moving about, especially when I want to sleep!
Also this week I have the New Kids on the Block concert and Thanksgiving. Tomorrow is the concert and I'm really looking forward to seeing them. The doctor gave me the ok, so hopefully the baby will enjoy herself. For Thanksgiving I am going to a friends house for dinner. My friend Brittny has invited me over, so it will be nice to have some company. I'm bringing over some pumpkin pie, which I'm still not used to eating. I've tried it, but coming from Australia I still think of pumpkin as a vegetable! Give me some roasted pumpkin any day!!!
John is doing good and will be here in two weeks. I'm counting down the days till I get to see him! At the moment he's away again which is making me extremely nervous. He's assured me that he'll be back in Bahrain in time to catch his flight, but I don't think I'll be entirely confident until he's on the plane! I just hope that this is a really quick trip!
So to all the American side of my family and friends who read this I hope you all have a safe and happy Thanksgiving Day! Enjoy your turkey, family and friends!!

My Worse Night Ever!!!

This weekend I got really sick! I either had food poisoning or the stomach bug that was going around work, but whatever it was I was as sick as I have been in a very long time. It all started around 11pm as I was about to go to bed. My stomach didn't feel right and the diarrhoea began (sorry to gross you out). I was up and down all night. Then at around 2am I threw up. Thank goodness that only happened once. The unfortunate part was that I didn't make it to the bathroom in time so I made quite a mess. It took about an hour to clean it all up. It was horrible!! I'm just glad I didn't get any on the carpet. Once I had everything cleaned up, including myself I was able to get some sleep. Yesterday I basically spent the day sleeping and trying to recover. I haven't eaten much, but I'm making sure I drink plenty of water to keep myself hydrated. According to my pregnancy book none of this affects the baby, but I need to make sure I stay hydrated which is what I've been doing. The baby has been moving around quite normally so I don't think any of this has really affected her!
So as you can imagine my weekend didn't really amount to much! I was aiming to knock out a lot of my Christmas shopping in an effort to be organised before the baby gets here. I managed to get a lot done on Saturday before getting sick so I am on the road to having it all done! This week is my last week of work and I'm looking forward to finishing up so I can take the time to relax a little. Saying goodbye to the kids and my friends will probably be tough, but I'm looking forward to not having to get up at 5am every morning! I'm wanting to get the house organised before the baby gets here so it won't be all rest and relaxation.
This week I did get to meet up with my cousin which was really nice. The last time I ever saw him was when he was a baby, so as you can imagine it's been a long time!! He was at the end of his world trip which had taken him to places like Paris, Amsterdam and Las Vegas to name a few. We had dinner and caught up on life, and it was really nice to meet up with him after all these years. After San Diego he went back up to LA then on to San Francisco and now I think he's on his way back to Sydney.

My cousin Danial and I.

John is doing well and has finally made it back to Bahrain. I found out yesterday that he is going out again, I believe at the end of the week which had me in a little bit of a panic. I began to stress out that he wouldn't be able to come home, but he reassures me that this trip won't be long and he'll still be home on the 8th. This deployment has been tough. With him coming and going all the time it gets hard to stay positive. I miss him a lot and I'm really looking forward to spending these three weeks with him.
So that's all the news I have for this week. I'm going to go now and have an early night so that I continue to recover from this stomach bug...hopefully I'll have better news for next week!

Jennifer's Baby Shower

Me at 35 weeks

Jennifer and I as our bellies grow!

Jennifer with part of my gift...I got the same doll for our little girl too!

Today was Jennifer's baby shower and it was a lot of fun. Like I've already said she is about three weeks behind me so our babies will be friends!! My friend Brittny drove up there because Jen lives probably about 30 minutes away from where we live. Today has been a bit of a crazy day weather wise. It's cold (which I'm enjoying) and it rained when we were driving there and back! Anyway it was a good time catching up with my friends. We ate, played some games and looked at all the gifts Jennifer got. I even managed to win a game!! It was the diaper game where they placed a bit of chocolate all smashed up into a diaper and you have to guess what kind of chocolate it was. I was surprised that I got most of them right, especially when I haven't been able to eat chocolate in months!! It got this cute little candle set which I think I might set up on my scrap booking table.
Everything is going well with me and the baby. My doctors visit was good and he is very happy with my sugar levels. I'm now onto my weekly appointments so my next one is tomorrow. I also have another appointment tomorrow with the fetal assessment unit. (I think that's what it's called) I think they are just going to listen to the baby for 30 minutes or so to see how she's going. I also have another ultrasound booked for my 38th week, so hopefully I'll get one last picture of her before she comes.
Work is fine, although I'm getting really tired these days. Luckily for me I have been getting sent home early most days which I'm really grateful for. My boss has also given me tomorrow and Tuesday off too so I'm looking forward to that little break. I now have only 8 working days left. I'm going to miss my friends, but with my back and hip hurting as much as they do I'm looking forward to finishing!!
John is doing fine and I think is on his way back to Bahrain. I got an email on Friday telling me that it was the last one from that address that I was going to get, so now I'm just waiting to hear from him again. It is now basically four more weeks until he comes home for the birth so I'm really looking forward to seeing him. Fingers crossed the baby can wait until he gets here!

Halloween

Our bear and Yoda waiting for the parade!

Friday was Halloween and it was a lot of fun at work! The kids, especially the older ones come in so excited in their costumes. They love going on the parade through the center collecting candy from the other rooms. After the parade the older kids then have a party for lunch, so it is a really big day for them.

Our little lamb got a little tired while watching the parade!

Us teachers also had a little party for lunch. We had a pot luck lunch which was really yummy!! I had a little of everything which didn't affect my blood sugar. It's all about moderation. I made a lasagna which I thought tasted great. I haven't done a lot of cooking lately with my diabetes and only having myself to cook for, so it was great to get back into the kitchen. I am really looking forward to being able to cook a little more once this baby is out and I don't have to worry about my sugar levels anymore! I've become very reliant on microwave meals and I don't really like it! I guess I only have a matter of weeks to go!!

Some of the two year olds!

One of our two cowboys!

Me and my fellow Charger fan!!
Halloween at home was a little disappointing. I had a lot of people coming around who didn't even bother dressing up. I still handed out the candy though because being on my own I didn't want any trouble. I did have a few cute kids come to the door. One little boy was Captain Jack Sparrow who looked really cute! A lot of the other kids were a little bit older and dressed up like monster and other scary things. By about 8pm I locked up the house and was in bed.
I haven't done much this weekend. I went out to Target yesterday and got everything that was still on my gift registry. It was expensive, but I think I now have everything the baby will need! I'm in the process of getting the room ready to go so everything should be in order before her arrival. It's had to believe how much stuff something so little needs!!
We also had our time change this weekend, so today I got an extra hour of sleep which was nice. This whole weekend I have actually slept a lot more than I have in a while. I've been going to bed early and I've had some afternoon naps both today and yesterday, so I'm feeling very rested. I have only three more weeks of work left and I'm pretty excited about that too. I'm finding that the last week or two I'm tiring a lot earlier than what I used too! On Wednesday I also have a day off as my doctors appointment landed in the middle of the day. This weeks appointment marks the beginning of my weekly ones.
John is doing fine and is still at sea. He was able to call me this weekend on the satellite phone which was really good. I still have no idea when he will get back to Bahrain, but I'm guessing that it has to be soon! All I know is that he needs to be back in time to come home!

I'm tired!!

Well my title says it all really...these days I'm just really tired! I'm sleeping ok, but it takes a while to find that comfortable spot to drift off, and then I'm waking up several times a night to use the bathroom. The baby also loves to get active as I'm trying to go to sleep. The other night my stomach was moving about like crazy, which was kind of strange to see! One minute she was on one side of my tummy, then she pushing up on the other side!
I had my regular two week doctors appointment this week and everything is going well. He was happy with my sugar levels, so hopefully they will remain this way until I give birth. My next appointment is in another two weeks and then they become weekly. I also have an appointment at the fetal monitor unit (I think that's what it is called). I believe I'm going to be hooked up to some kind of machine which allows them to really monitor the baby. I'm not sure how many times I'll be going to that place or if it's just a one off thing! So on Thursday I made all my appointments which go up until the day before my due date. It was a little surreal to see them all because there isn't that many!! I just want her to wait until John comes home before making her arrival!
Speaking of John, he is doing good and still out to sea. I have had a few phone calls as he has access to a satellite phone which has been great. I don't get to talk to him for long, but it's better than not hearing from him at all. He keeps telling me that he'll be back in Bahrain soon, so I'm hoping it will be in the next week or so. I'm just really looking forward to having him come home in December.
I've also decided on a date for leaving work. My last day will be November 21st, which isn't too far away!! I was going to work the following week as well, but that week is Thanksgiving and it's a three day week. It's also a quiet week at work, so I'm sure they will do fine without me. I'm ready to leave. My days seem to feel a little longer and I'm feeling tired and a little sore at the end of each day. I figured with the three weeks before my due date I'll have time to get the house in order and relax a little.
This Friday coming is Halloween and I'm looking forward to it. We are having a parade at work so the children can dress up and I love seeing all the babies in their costumes. So far I know we will be seeing a giraffe, a sheep and a cowboy so I can't wait to see them all. I also have my candy ready for all the trick and treaters that will come to the house. I'll be sure to have some photos for next week!

My Baby Shower

My cake...I forgot to get a photo before it got cut.
It said "Congrats Mate on your girl!" It was very
yummy too!

This is my friend Sasha who opened her home and
organised the shower!!

Me and Dakota!

My friends Jennifer (who's due about 3 weeks
after me) and Chrissy.

My friend Brittny!

My friend Cassie who got the baby these really
cute bath puppets...one is a koala and the other
is a kangaroo! She also bought the wonderful cake.

This is a pic of all the presents we got! I'm extremely
grateful!!
So yesterday was the baby shower and I had a fantastic day. I've added just a few photos here and the rest will be on my facebook and myspace accounts. It was a really great opportunity to catch up with friends, especially the ones I no longer work with. We had lunch, played some games, had cake and opened the gifts, plus a lot of catching up with one another. The games were really cute. One was where they had to memorise a bunch of chocolate bars, then make up a story about the baby using as many of the chocolate bars as they could remember. As we still don't have a name the girls used our old name of Banjo! Another game was that they had to draw a picture of a baby with the paper on their heads and the pen was not allowed to leave the paper. There were a lot of interesting babies!! The other games included a bunch of questions about me to see how well they know me and estimating the size of my belly by cutting a piece of string. In that game some of the girls must of thought I'd doubled in size!! It was a good day. Dakota came along and it was good to see her. She is fast becoming a teenager! She is doing good and is keeping busy with school. She will be 13 in November!
My other good news is that we now have official word of John coming home for the baby's birth and have purchased his ticket home. He will be here for about three weeks, arriving December 8th and leaving on the 27th. I am so happy that he will be here for the baby's first Christmas!! We were under the impression that he would probably only be able to come home for about two weeks, so I'm really happy he was able to get the extra time. Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that the baby waits until her Daddy gets home before making her appearance!
I've had a pretty easy going week. We had a lot of infants out on vacation this week so I got to go home early most days. For two of the days I worked as little as three or four hours so I really appreciated the break. I kind of got used to afternoon naps! Unfortunately though my first full day of work fell on Friday so I didn't get a chance at yet another long weekend. My aim is to finish up work in the last week of November which will be a three day week here due to Thanksgiving. This means I only have a matter of weeks left!! Time is just getting away from me!
Today I've been taking it easy. I found Band of Brothers on the tv so I've been half watching that for most of the as I work through laundry and some other stuff! I have done my own and now I'm working on the baby clothes. In the next few weeks I'll get the last of what I think I need and then I should hopefully be ready for her arrival. I'm trying to also fit in getting organised for Christmas as well, but that might end up being a last minute thing. I guess I should get through Halloween first before I start worrying about that!!

My Incredible Shrinking Pregnancy!!

This is me at 31 weeks and a few days! All is going well with me and the baby, and last week was a really good week for me personally. I have been able to wear pants that I couldn't wear before I was pregnant because I was too big, and at my doctors visit this past week I found out that I have lost 5 pounds, (not sure how to convert that for you Aussies) so I now weigh less than I did before I was pregnant! Now I am anxious to know how much I weigh without the baby!
When I look at all this I guess the gestational diabetes has been a good thing for me because it has forced me to take a good look at what I eat. I now know what a good portion looks like, the importance of eating more fruit and vegetables, limiting the not so good stuff and getting in some exercise. I'm hoping that once the baby has arrived that I can continue on the road to losing more weight.
On Wednesday I had an ultrasound too and the baby looks good. She was constantly hitting the thing they put on your stomach, which makes me think she didn't really like the prodding and pushing. They were able to tell me that she weighs about 3 pounds 12 ounces (give or take 10 pounds) and that everything looked good.
My regular doctors visit went well too. She increased my dosage of medication in the morning and basically told me that I could still go on insulin before the baby gets here because my sugars go a little crazy at times. I also believe from now on in they are going to be keeping a close eye on the baby to ensure she doesn't grow too big. At the moment though everything is good!

These are a shot of the baby's bed. I washed the linen and set it up so I could see what it looks like. I think it's cute!! I also got a nice surprise this week when I received my first gift from my registry. My friend Jess who lives in England was able to purchase something off it and she got me the bouncer I had put on there. (Thanks again Jess!!) This weekend coming is my baby shower so once I see what I get there I guess I'll be shopping again to pick up what I don't get from my list! I'm looking forward to the shower. I bought myself a new dress today and I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone, especially my friends that I no longer work with. Also Dakota will be coming along with me so it will be good to see her again too!

The baby's first Christmas dress with my belly creeping in!!

I did a little shopping today and found the cutest outfits for the baby's first Christmas. I couldn't 't help myself and just had to get them. I'm sure I'll be taking lots of photos of her all dressed up for her first Christmas. Today I also got some other outfits and my first box of diapers, so I'm slowly getting there. I'm starting to worry a little that I won't be fully organised before she gets here.

Her secondary outfit, with again my belly encroaching on the shot! I didn't even realise it was in the shot!
As for John he's doing good and is still out to sea so I haven't spoken to him in almost two weeks. I'm hoping that I get to hear from him sometime this week, because I get incredibly lonely when we don't talk.
The weather here has been really up and down lately. It will be hot and uncomfortable for a few days, then cool and almost cold for a few more. Today and tomorrow we have the Santa Ana winds blowing about which is what helped to cause last years fires so our fire fighters are on high alert. At the moment there is a pretty big fire up near LA, so I'm hoping that doesn't get any worse and that nothing happens down here. Where we are situated we are very safe and don't have to worry about the threat of fire, but it still does get a little scary. Lets just hope that we manage to avoid the fires this year!
