No Photos Today!

Well another week over and done with and let me tell you about the week I've had!! I went back to school this week so I've been extra busy catching up on the work I didn't do over my break. I didn't have too much, but because I have to do lessons in some of the classrooms at work, managing to find the time to do that was a little hard. In the end though I got it done and I'm hoping that I get good marks.
At one point during the week I went to renew my licence for what seems like the 100th time! The problem is is that because when I initially applied I didn't have a social security number, so they will only issue me with a temporary licence. So I line up to get in the door and after waiting for 15 minutes or so the lady takes one look at it and my green card and says that she can't do it until my green card is renewed. Well, as for my green card I have been waiting to be notified by mail as to what I need to do. John makes a phone call the next day only to find out that we are way late in getting it processed and that I need to do some other application to take the word permanent out of my title. As you can imagine I've been slightly stressed out worrying that I'm going to be kicked out of the country!! The paperwork is all sent in (we had to send proof of our relationship again) and hopefully it will get processed before I become an illegal alien!! So as for my licence...fingers crossed I'm able to get some kind of extension so I don't have to repeat all the testing again!!
We haven't done a whole lot this weekend. I've been studying and we had Dakota over so that meant a lot of Rockband. It's quite funny to see all three of us here, eyes on the TV playing our hearts out. Our favourite song is Radiohead's "Creep". I can get 100% with that one.
The only other news I have is that WE'RE GOING TO DISNEYLAND FOR MY BIRTHDAY!! I'm so excited!! We have both taken that week off and will be heading up Monday and coming back on Wednesday, so I'll be sure to take some photos for everyone!
Have a great week, and where are your blogs!?!

A lot of news!!

My Easter wreath!

Ok, so for those of you who read this...sorry it's been a while since I updated you on my life!! I just never seem to have enough time in my days! Well I hope you all enjoyed your Easter. As you already know through my various rants, we don't get any time off here so I didn't get the four days of rest and relaxation that all you Aussies got to enjoy. I am also not a huge fan of some of the chocolate here so we didn't go the whole Easter egg thing. I miss the Humpty Dumpty eggs of my childhood! I did get a little into the Easter spirit however by getting a wreath for our door. (which reminds me...I need to take that thing down!) I've included a photo of it for all to see!
As I already mentioned John got his football computer game for his Easter present, so this week I got mine. It wasn't what I was anticipating, but I like it just the same. Ever since I've started driving here I've been asking for a navigator for the car. So for Easter we got one, and John loves it!! It's left me wondering just who really got the gift!?! It is really cool though because it came equipped with maps for the entire country as well as Canada and Mexico and it has lots of little sections to make looking up things easier. You can type in addresses, or look for a store name and it will give a selection starting with the closet one too you. It's going to come in handy when John is gone.

My Garmin navigator!!

On Sunday we got to test out the navigator when we went to SeaWorld for the day. It was a lot of fun and the day was beautiful. John gets to go for free once a year for being in the military, which is nice! We got to see the Shamu show and a dolphin show and we got to touch some sting rays and some star fish. The sting rays feel very slimy and you can feed them along with dolphins and seals at certain times during the day. We also got to see the Beluga (I think thats how you spell it?) whales which are my favourites! John also got his free taste of beer so he was a happy camper. SeaWorld is owned by the Budwieser people so they have a little area that talks about the history of the beer and of course a tasting section! I really had a great day.
Me and Shamu!

St Paddy's Day

Last night we went out for a few St Patricks Day drinks. We went downtown where they had sectioned off a whole bunch of streets and had a big street party. There were so many people there, and we met up with a few of my friends from work, so that was fun. I only had one drink because I still had to get up for work today, but John let himself go and actually got a little drunk! I think he'll be having an early night tonight. We were home and in bed a little after ten, but something different for a Monday night!
So I have a message for who ever reads this...start up your own blog!! It's such a great way of letting one another know what's going on, and I would love to have a window into everyones worlds! Looking forward to seeing some new blogs on here....it's easy!

No Easter For Me!

The latest addition to the San Diego Chargers!!

Well another week of work, school and study, and I'm feeling a little worn out! This week we're heading into is my Spring Break so I don't have class, but I should still do some study! One of my classes is kind of easy which is good because my other one is proving to be a little stressful. It's not that it's hard or anything like that, but I have a professor who is very particular and I think gets some kind of enjoyment out of making you re-submit stuff. I leave that class on Saturday feeling like I need a drink!!
Yesterday we had this wild winter storm here! We've been having beautiful weather up until the afternoon when it started to rain. We had a lot of wind and hail which was kind of cool! At some point during the night I even heard thunder! Coming from Darwin I'm used to thunder, but I haven't heard it in a long time. Today it has been freezing. We didn't get any rain, but the air was really cold. I was happy to spend the afternoon at home bundled up.
I guess this weekend coming is Easter, so I hope all you Aussies enjoy your extra long weekend. We don't get one day off here as it's viewed as a religious holiday, so it's not recognised. I still haven't accepted the fact that I no longer get a four day weekend. I tell the girls at work about it, and they all can't believe we get that many days off in Austraila. We also don't get hot crossed buns here, so please enjoy yours over the weekend and think of me!! (smile - I really miss those!!)
Today we went to Bondi for our traditional breakfast. They are now having Sunday sessions so we're going to have to go one of these days. For $8 you get a bbq and a beer and I think they also have live music there. You wouldn't believe how much I love going there just to eat sausages!! They get them sent over from Australia and they are devine!! We don't get sausages here like those in Australia!
We went to get Dakota a little something for Easter today and John came home with a new addiction. He bought a new football (gridiron for you Aussies) game for his Xbox 360 and has been playing it all afternoon. A game on this thing takes just as long as it does to watch one!! He says he plans to try the game by himself to prefect his skills before he goes on-line to take on virtual strangers! Lets see if he can do better for the Chargers. I've included a photo (approved by him) of him hard at work!!

Not My Favorite Week!

This is Sasha working hard on her albums...notice
the beautiful day outside!!

This is Jennifer hard at work...that's all my stuff
right in front of the camera!

Another week down, and this week was just horrible. I got struck down with a head cold that just sapped all the energy out of me! I struggled with it from about Tuesday on and ended up spending all of Thursday in bed sleeping it off! I still have a horrible cough, but apart from that I'm feeling 100% better.
So with being sick it's been a rather uneventful week. John got his orders to Bahrain and will be leaving here sometime in August now I think. He also has to go to school in Mississippi for about a month so all up I'll be thirteen months on my own. We've considered me going back to Australia, but with the house and everything we have over here it will probably be a lot less expensive for us if I just stay here. I'm OK with that decision because I do have a life over here.
Today I went over to one of my friends house for a scrap booking day. It was a great day because with school at the moment I haven't been able to do any scrap booking. So with all the gossiping, looking at every ones albums and watching the others at work I only managed to get one page done. I still had fun though and that's all the matters! I'm adding photos to this of my friends hard at work.
Once I get through this week of school I have a week off which I'm really looking forward too. I will still have a mountain load of work to do because I just can't seem to get caught up this semester, but I'm looking forward to the break. My Saturday class is the most frustrating one I've ever had to do. I've got a very particular professor and everything I hand in I'm always having to do something extra...I'm going to make sure I avoid her for all future classes, and I will never do another class on Saturdays again.
We start daylight savings today so we've lost an hour to our day. It's going to really hurt me tomorrow when I have to get up at what will feel like 4am! Wish me luck with that!! Till next week!

Ghost Hunting in San Diego!

John and I in the General Store area of the house!

The guest room where I think there are some
unusual spots over the bed!

The stair case looking down, where you
can apparently see Mrs Whaley at the top
of the stairs...notice the dot in the middle of
the staircase!

This is me in the theatre they had
in the house...notice the dots above
me to my left!

It's been a great weekend! Ever since I've started school on Saturdays we seem to stay in a lot more, but this weekend we made an effort to get out of the house. It's been a beautiful weekend here with finally no rain, which made it a lot easier to get out and about.

Yesterday we went out for dinner and a movie. We went to this seafood restaurant that I forget it's name (and it wasn't Red Lobster!) and the meal was fantastic!! After the meal we went to the movies and saw "Be Kind and Rewind". It was the worse movie we have seen in a long time. I recommend waiting until it comes on TV, because DVD rental is still too much money for this film. We were kicking ourselves that we paid to go see it, especially when our other option was "There Will Be Blood".

So today we headed out and had breakfast at Bondi! They make the best breakfast there and I always enjoy hearing an Aussie accent or two! After that we headed over to a place called Old Town. It's basically where the first settlement in San Diego was and there are a bunch of original houses still there. It is a mixture of Mexican and English style buildings and they have all sorts of stores and museums set up in the buildings. Today we went and saw Whaley House which is reportedly meant to be one of the most haunted houses in America!! Apparently the land was used for executions before Mr Whaley bought the land and built his home there. There is also reports of Mr Whaley, his wife and some of his children making "appearances" there. While we were there we didn't see anything, but I took some photos and there are some spots there. I'm calling them orbs and John thinks I'm strange...but you be the judge!! They have tours of the house at night, so I want to go back and see how different it is at night. Let me know what you think of the photos!
