12 Weeks Old Today!!!

Tummy time!!

My baby is 12 weeks old today! I can't believe how quickly it has gone. She's going to be all grown up before I know it! So today I took these photos to mark the occasion and to show you all how good she is on her tummy! Her neck is so strong!

As I already mentioned I have a lot of study to do this week, and last night I got next to nothing done! Mackenzie decided that she just wasn't going to sleep without me. I tried taking her pjs off, she went to sleep but was awake within 30 minutes. In the end I gave up and once I was in bed she was fast asleep for the rest of the night! So far so good tonight though as she's asleep and has been for over and hour!

Today we got a phone call from John which made both of our days! He's still out at sea and doesn't really know when he will be going back to Bahrain which is kind of frustrating. I also got the information from the ship he will be going to today, but there was no timetable as to what the ship is doing so we still don't know about that! Just keep your fingers crossed for us that he's not deploying anytime soon! He got to talk to Mackenzie today which I'm sure made his day. She smiled while he was talking to her and 'talked' back a little. It was really cute!

Her new jeans that are still a little too big!

More time!

Mackenzie in a new outfit!

Well another week done and I can't believe February is coming to an end. Time is flying!! We had an uneventful week. I was very unmotivated when it came to school so last night saw me typing away wildly until about 10:30. I was a little worried too because Mackenzie just wouldn't go to sleep. As frustrating as the situation was I was laughing because every time I told her it was time to go to sleep she would smile and talk back. I'm starting to think that I may have trouble on my hands. She eventually went to sleep and I got my study done.
This week however is a totally different story. I have so much work to do I'm actually a little worried as to whether I'm going to get it all done on time. I have two assignments due on top of my regular workload. Today once I realised that I made a small start, but with Mackenzie not allowing me much time during the day I think I'm going to have some late nights.
I was going to start working on getting Mackenzie into her bed this week, but I'm going to put it off a week. I don't have the time to deal with her screaming and waking up every 30 minutes. I know it might sound like an excuse, but I really don't have the time this week. It is definitely times like these when I really wish that John was hear to help.

Mackenzie wearing jeans for the first time!

This week we went and had lunch with Dakota and it was nice catching up with her. She is doing good and will be getting braces in April. She's also going to Florida in April for her Spring break so April is going to be busy for her. Mackenzie was a little mean to her big sister though because she wouldn't smile for her (she wouldn't even look at her) and she cried not long after Dakota held her. I told Dakota though that sooner or later Mackenzie won't leave her alone, so it shouldn't last like this too long.
On Sunday we went to a birthday and that was where she wore her new outfit. The birthday was for one of my friends son and they had it at this beautiful park that over looked the city. I had a great time because I got to catch up with my friends and also some of the families I used to work with. They all thought Mackenzie was the cutest and she was on her best behavior too!

I guess the party was a big day for her because she went to sleep in the car and stayed that way for about an hour after we got home!

So these are our fish, Keith and Nicole (Nic is the orange one)and when I saw this I just had to get a pic. Now I've heard that fish don't have much of a brain, but I think I might possibly have two of the smartest fish around. Nicole always likes to mess with me. She swims upside down. The first few times I saw her do it I had a heart attack, because I would look into the bowl and think she was dead. Once I tap on the glass she would return upright and swim off. Lately however she's been doing it a little more than usual. I think it might have been because she wanted her water cleaned. I got to it the very next day however when Keith started swimming on his side. I thought he was dead, but again just faking. Since I've cleaned their bowl they have been swimming like normal fish, or what is normal for them...they love to hang out like this with their top fins out of the water.
This week will be all about study. I don't have any plans other than trying to get all this work done on time. Fingers crossed that Mackenzie will help me out with that! She will be 12 weeks old this week. I can't believe how quickly it's gone, but already I can't imagine life without her. She's just so cute, and her personality is coming out a little more each and every day. I think she's going to have her Daddy's sense of humor!
John is still out at sea and it feels like forever! It's been over a week since I've spoken to him and it's starting to become a drag. This deployment has been a really tough one and I can't wait for it to be over. I just want him to get back to Bahrain so I can hear from him on a regular basis. Well until next week!

Our Valentine's Day

Mackenzie's Valentine's outfit!

Today was Valentine's Day and although it was a little lonely we had a good day. I sometimes give John grief because he's not romantic enough for me, but today he did a great job so I'm feeling loved and special. He got me some beautiful roses and he also called for a little while on the satellite phone which was a great surprise! I got Mackenzie a cute little Valentine's outfit too which she looked adorable in. I originally bought her a little dress, but it's been cold here lately so I got a second outfit to make sure she was warm. I'm sure she'll get to wear the dress at some point, and she'll be able to wear both outfits numerous times before she grows out of them!

She's just so cute!!

As I mentioned it's been a little cold here lately. We have had quite a lot of rain also so we have been sticking close to home. We are meant to be getting more rain again tomorrow so we aren't going anywhere! People in San Diego drive even crazier than what they normally do in the rain so I'm not going to have Mackenzie out there unless I actually need too!

Mackenzie playing!

Mackenzie is doing great and is getting bigger by the day. She is so cute!!! She smiles and talks a lot and is trying to roll over. She still doesn't allow me to get too much study done during the day so I'm up late at night, but at the moment I'm not feeling over whelmed. I'm getting good grades so I'm not worried about it. I don't like studying on a Saturday night though. Like right now, I'm trying to do anything but open up my text book!

John is doing fine and still out at sea. I think he'll be back in Bahrain by next month. He recently found out where he will be going next and it will be a ship, which means we are staying in San Diego for at least another two years. It's called the USS Bonhomme Richard and if I remember correctly I believe it's a troop carrier. I have my fingers crossed that it's not deploying any time soon. I don't think I could handle him joining the ship and leaving again. I just want him home with us! The good news about this is that he'll be home earlier than expected. I'm not sure of the exact dates yet because he has to go to school in San Antonio (I think) first, but I think he'll be home in July! I'm really looking forward to that!

Just Another Week

Not a lot happened this week after our visit to the doctors. Mackenzie recovered well from her shots and we spent most of the week hanging out at home. Her sleep patterns have been a little out of whack which has been a little exhausting. With her not allowing me to get my study done during the day I'm doing it at night and now go to bed sometimes after midnight. Over the last few nights she has started to wake up an hour or two after I've gone to sleep; then she's been getting up at 6! As you can imagine after a while it gets exhausting. I've been kind of tired. On Saturday I ended up with a terrible headache so we napped and took things easy. Last night and tonight have been a little better, so fingers crossed the restless nights were due to the shots and we are getting back to normal.
We have had a lot of rain this past week which has been nice. The only problem with that is that I desperately need some food! Tomorrow there is meant to be a break in the weather so we are out to get some groceries. It's amazing how something as simple as going to the store can become a problem when you have to add a baby to the mix!
Yesterday we went out to lunch with some of the girls I used to work with. It was great to get out of the house and have some adult interaction. I can get a little lonely at times, so it's always nice to have someone to talk too! Mackenzie was a good girl, but I had to laugh because for some reason she didn't seem to like one of my friends. Marisa would talk to her and her lip would drop! It was cute! I'm sure she really does like Marisa though!
John is doing good and still out to sea. Not getting to talk to him is beginning to take it's toll on me. It's tough after a while. I get emails from him, but getting to talk to him is so much better. I can start to feel a little down after a while. I'm hoping that this week I get to talk to him. I am kind of glad though that we are half way through February though...hopefully time will continue to fly so he can come back home to us!

Two Month Check Up

So today Mackenzie had her two month old check up today which meant shots! I was so nervous!! Her check up went well. She now weighs 11 pounds 9 ounces and is 22.5 inches long which puts her in the 50th percentile for both! Everything else is going great and I got some extra pointers and advice on getting Mackenzie to sleep in her own bed.

(this photo was the last one I took today...I was trying to get the band aids in and she was over it!!)

She had two shots and an oral shot (I guess) and we have to go back again for another one because they had ran out of one of the vaccines. The oral one she threw up a little, but we eventually got her to have some more and she managed to keep that down. The nurse said that she should be fine with that dose. When I saw the syringes I teared up a little...I was so nervous about what was going to happen. The nurse was pretty fast and Mackenzie did scream, but she settled down rather quickly once I picked her up. It wasn't as bad as what I was imagining it to be. It is going on the list though of things I would rather John do!

She seems to be doing fine so far. She was a little unsettled and it took me a while to get her to sleep tonight. (yes she's in my bed!) She had a slight temperature, but I've given her some infant Tylenol so I hope her temperature remains low grade or better still goes away! Apart from the vaccination we missed, unless she gets sick we don't have to go back until she's four months old.

So Mackenzie and I never seem to get any photos together! I had managed to misplace my camera for a few days so once I found it again I figured self portrait time! These are my favorites. As you can see I didn't have much luck with the whole self portrait because I cut myself out! It was fun just the same! I don't know if you can see, but it looks like her hair is starting to go a little reddish!

I managed to get through my first week of school. Mackenzie doesn't really let me get a whole lot done during the day. Some days I had her on my lap and typed one handed! That got old kind of quick. Now I'm getting most of it done at night. Mackenzie has kind of comprised with me though as she has now moved her bedtime forward by an hour which is giving me more time once she's asleep. Before I was getting her bathed and in bed starting at 7, but this past week at around 6 she starts having a melt down so she goes to bed earlier. The school work is going good though and I got good points for everything I have turned in so far.

John is back out to sea so we haven't heard too much from him. He is having trouble with email so he has been able to write to me, but my emails don't go through. I know that has to be tough, because I don't like it when I don't hear from him. He has been able to call occasionally on the satellite phone, but we are not able to talk for long. It is good to hear his voice though. I will just be so happy when he comes back home. We miss him a lot!!
