Another Busy Week

Mackenzie playing with her pumpkin!

We survived another busy week and are at the end of a nice relaxing weekend. Yesterday we just hung out at home and today we went and had lunch with my friends which was nice. Now I'm trying to get my school work done and everything prepared for tomorrow! Mackenzie is trying her best to make as much mess for me as she can!

Taking a nap!

We ended up spending two days at home this week as Mackenzie got sick. It started Monday night where she ended up with a fever and it didn't go away until part way through Wednesday afternoon. Monday and Tuesday nights saw me being woken up nearly every hour on the hour by a very hot and upset little girl. I was exhausted but I think we were both glad to be back at school on Thursday. Mackenzie was extremely happy to see her teacher and didn't even want to breastfeed like she normally does before school. She went to see the doctor on Tuesday and he said she just had what was going around so she is doing good now.

A look at the destruction caused by Mackenzie while I'm trying to get my study done!

So here are a few pics of our study after Mackenzie has finished exploring the room. As you all know I have study to do and a lot of the time I have to do while Mackenzie plays. She has a bunch of her own toys in the room, but they no longer entertain her as much as destroying the room does now! Today I thought I would entice her with snacks, but that didn't really help. She gets into Daddy's x box stuff and my scrap booking stuff and anything else she can get her hands on! Most days I'm working on a dead line so what ever keeps her occupied so I can get my work done!

Yummy goldfish!!

It is so much more fun to spread the goldfish over the floor then eat them to keep them in the container!

Look how big she is getting!!

This week we are having our Halloween party at school. Mackenzie has her costume and I can't wait to dress her up! I'll be sure to post pics next week!

Pumpkin Patch

A beat up Mackenzie on the tractor ride at the pumpkin patch.

Hard to believe that I'm writing another entry so soon after the last one! I think I mentioned last time about Mackenzie's strange sleeping habits, but in case I didn't she has started doing this sitting up thing where she sits up and crawls about while half asleep. Well last night she did it and managed to crawl off the bed without waking me up. I was awoken to a thud and a scream! I checked her out as best I could, but all she wanted to do was have a drink and go back to sleep. I basically slept with one eye open the rest of the night and when we woke up today I noticed the two grazes on her poor little nose! So as I write she is much to her disgust asleep in her own bed. I don't know how long it's going to last or what kind of sleep I'm going to get tonight, but I have no choice...it's for her own safety! Wish me luck people that this is a quick and painless transition for the both of us!

Amongst the pumpkins!

Today we went to the pumpkin patch with my friend Marjolien and her two children Tim and Sanne. I met Marjolien at my old job when I looked after Timmy. She is from Holland so we would both discuss our immigration woes and what life is like being foreign and living here. I glad to say that we have kept in touch and that I have a friend to go out with. Today we met up at a pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkins for Halloween. Both of us are new to this, but I've been waiting for this to get pics of Mackenzie amongst the pumpkins! Unfortunately her face was messed up from her midnight fall and she seems to have a bit of a head cold so she looks pretty miserable and had no idea what was going on. I picked her out a pumpkin though (which I'm not going to crave...I think I'll let her paint on it) and will get some photos of her playing with it in the next day or so.

Sitting amongst some pumpkins with her friends Tim and Sanne (that Marjolien making sure she doesn't fall off the truck!)

We had a nice short week this week as we had a holiday on Monday. Mackenzie did good and on one day didn't even cry when I dropped her off. Part of me was happy that she's feeling safe and secure and confident enough to be left, but the other part of me could have cried because my little girl is fine without me. This week I also got an opportunity to watch her play! She does have a lot of fun and I love that I'm right next door and can see her whenever I want. I know I tell parents of the cute and funny things their children do during the day, but being able to see it is so much better!
John is doing good and we have gotten to talk with him a couple of times this week. Mackenzie listens to him intently on the phone when he speaks to her and smiles, so I think she still remembers his voice. The other day I had to laugh because she was listening a smiling for a good minute or two the other night and then the news came on and she threw the phone aside to watch. I think she likes the graphics, but she loves the news (the weather in particular) on one of the local channels here. Whenever it comes on she stops what she's doing to watch. I think her Granddad Ian would be impressed by that because I can always remembering him complaining that we never made noise until the news came on and Mackenzie is the opposite...she loves to watch the news!

We've Lost Suzie!!!

Just a quick update before getting Mackenzie ready for bed! There never seems to be enough hours in the day anymore, especially when it comes to being on the computer. I used to spend a little too much time on this thing, now I'm lucky if I can get my emails checked! Maybe it's a good thing?
Mackenzie and I are doing good. We are being kept very busy with school/work and have gotten ourselves into a good routine. Mackenzie is doing so much better now at school which is such a relief! She still cries a little when we initially separate, but there are times now when she will see me during the day and not cry. She eats great for them (better than she does for me) and is starting to drink a little more for them with each day. I can also see her come out of her shell a little more. She "talks" a lot more these days and I think she has starting saying ball. She now also chooses which snack she wants to eat, which is cute! Of course I wish I could spend my days with her, but I'm glad that she's happy and getting to interact with other kids.

Playing with her clean dishes when I wasn't quick enough!

All dressed up for a birthday party.

So now I have to decide whether to get Mackenzie and myself immunized against the swine flu. I just don't know what to do. I would kind of prefer not to do it, but at the same time I would hate for her to get it. As for myself I had the realization today that there is no way that I can get sick with something like the flu! Being the only available parent it is scary that if I get sick there is no one to take care of Mackenzie. I guess I'm definitely going to get immunized, but what to do about Mackenzie!

Oh and as for the title...WE LOST MACKENZIE'S SUZIE DOLL!!! I don't know how or when but I can't find her anywhere. Thank goodness Mackenzie didn't get as attached to her as I was hoping she would! She now travels with her Henry Bear in the car, but he doesn't leave the car because I don't want to lose him too! We're off to the pumpkin patch on Saturday so I will make sure to get lots of pics!

10 Months Old

Mackenzie at play

My baby is 10 months old...still can't believe how fast this year has gone! It's been another busy week for us both and we are doing good. Mackenzie survived another week at school and this week we saw signs of her beginning to settle in. You don't know how relieved I am to see this. I am actually beginning to relax a little and enjoy myself too because I'm not constantly worrying about her. Don't get me wrong we still have a ways to go, but I was able to see her playing and not hear her cry all the time so this is a huge improvement! The girls even told me that she's been kissing the boys so I guess she's gone from class screamer to class flirt! She is still not drinking from a bottle yet, but I know she'll get there eventually. She is now drinking water and juice for me and the occasional bit of formula which is an big improvement, so I know it's only a matter of time before she starts to drink for them.

As for me...I'm doing ok. There never seems to be enough hours in the day for me and I have so much to do around the house! Most of the time I feel tired and I'm always worried that I could be doing more! I'm probably a little too hard on myself, but if I don't do it who will? Next Monday we have a holiday so my plan is to use most of next weekend to work on the house and bring it back into order....or hopefully anyway!

John is doing good and is some where out there in the Pacific Ocean. I have to admit I was a little worried when I heard about the Tsunami this week, but I eventually got an email from him telling me that he was fine! At the moment he can't call so we're heading into about a week now since we talked. Thank goodness for email! I'm hoping in the next week or so that I get to talk to him again.

Mackenzie with her friend Sophie
Today we went to my friend Jennifer's house for a food party! It was yummy food and a lot of quick and easy meals and things. I bought some stuff and will buy some more once John is home and I have someone to cook for. Mackenzie got to see her friend Sophie and they had a little play. Mackenzie spent most of the time snuggled into my lap acting shy, but near the end I was able to sit with her so she could play with Sophie. Sophie is definitely a lot more social than Mackenzie. It was funny because Sophie was crawling all over Mackenzie and pulling on her shirt and stuff and Mackenzie just sat there looking at her! They looked so cute together!!
